MECHANISMS OF RESISTANCE TO PINE WILT DISEASE

Inside Aralab’s environmental growth chambers, the dedicated BioISI – Biosystems & Integrative Sciences Institute research team at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL) is working to comprehend the mechanisms of resistance against Pine Wilt Disease. The disease, caused by Pine Wood Nematode (PWN), poses a severe threat to conifer forests in Eastern Asia and the Iberian Peninsula.

Through high-throughput genotyping techniques and targeted gene identification, FCUL is illuminating our understanding of resistant and susceptible genotypes, potentially steering us towards a future where our forests stand resilient against PWN.

We’re immensely proud to have our Aralab chambers playing a role in this ground-breaking study.
