This month we were privileged to visit the Champalimaud Foundation, where Champalimaud Research is based. The goal of Champalimaud Research is to perform world-leading fundamental and translational research focused on the fields of neuroscience, physiology and cancer.
The focus of our visit was the ‘Fly Platform’. A multi-room facility, central to all researchers using Drosophila as a model system. Equipped with 6 walk-in temperature and humidity-controlled chambers, 4 reach-in chambers, and a couple of cold storage rooms, the Fly Platform offers state of the art conditions for Drosophila breeding, maintenance and manipulation, supporting researchers in establishing, applying and developing advanced genetic methods.
