1978

THE PASSION FOR CLIMATE: HOW IT BEGAN

In 1978, a 16 years old boy spent his summer holidays at his parents garden obsessed with creating a machine of hatching eggs with better performance than their own chickens. When the chicks were born healthy, and in half the time, we went to his father and said “Dad, I’m going to be the inventor of the world’s best weathering machines”.

The little boy was João Araújo and 7 years later he founded ARALAB.

1985

ARALAB IS BORN

Only Servicing of laboratory equipment in Portuguese institutions.

 

1986

FIRST CUSTOMER

Aralab gest its first order for a Climatic Chamber. The first Aralab unit was installed at the Lisbon University of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

1995

MOVING ABROAD

After hundreds of climatic chambers built and installed in Portugal the first move abroad happens with the University of Compostela in Spain.

The first of many to come.

 

2005

SMALL FACTORY FOR A BIG WORLD

Aralab was able to build a very good reputation in Portugal and Spain as a high quality manufacturer. Reputable multinational companies were already using Aralab equipment and some sales had already happened outside southern europe. No reason to stop.

2011

A EUROPE IN CRISIS

Aralab grew steadily but the economical crisis reached Europe and namely the ‘southern countries’ where most of Aralab customers were.

2012

TRANSFORMING THE COMPANY TO REACH FURTHER

Great Products, Exclusive Know-How and a Strong Determination. Aralab has them all. But how to succeed in a niche market where big companies already dominate and in the midst of a financial crisis?

2016

PRESENT IN 5 CONTINENTS AND GROWING

30 years later Aralab is recognized as a leading manufacturer of climatic simulation equipment and one of the top players in terms of innovation, technical capacity and overall product quality. Aralab chambers are installed in 40 countries and 5 continents.

Local distributors in 35 countries. And growing.

2020

A GLOBAL BRAND

We reached the milestone of being present in 60 countries by the end of 2020. We have distributors and technical partners representing and giving support to Aralab chambers in more than 60 countries across the globe

2026

Aralab evolves its governance model. Effective January 1, 2026, Luís Branco becomes CEO and is joined by the second generation on the Executive Team: António Araújo (Chief Digital & Service Officer), Eduardo Coelho Araújo (COO) and João Cintra Araújo (Chief eXperience Officer). Founders João and Eduardo Araújo move to Non Executive Director roles. This renewed leadership reinforces our ambition to be an international reference in climate simulation and environmental testing, focused on innovation, growth, and solutions that empower the scientific and industrial community worldwide.
